Early Birthday Party
Tonight I went up to shoot what I thought would be a normal photo of the bridge. In fact, the wind was blowing so hard, that I almost turned around and went home. As the sun set, I made my way up Hawk Hill on foot. The park ranger had kicked everyone out of the upper parking area and had locked the gates.
I hung out above the gates and waited for it to become dark enough so that the bridge would be illuminated. All of a sudden, these lights turned on, and I watched as they were aimed into their proper places. I quickly changed my composition to focus on the South Tower and took several shots of this event. Within 15 minutes, the lights had been turned off for good. My guess is that this was a warm up for tomorrow night's fireworks and anniversary party. What a beautiful and unexpected sight this was.
