27.08.2012 (240/366) Centennial Numex

The Centennial Numex was developed by the New Mexico State University intended for growing in small containers. This chili was announced in 1988 during the university’s 100th anniversary. The Centennial Numex has purple flowers and purple leaves. The upright pods color from purple, to yellow, orange and finally red. After about 95 days, the peppers are mature. We just planted ours straight in the ground with all the other chillies but I think we'll over winter it in the house.

We thougt we'd grow these for fun. Couldn't wait for them to go from purple through to red and decided we'd try one........they are HOT! HOT! HOT!
