Prince Regent's Battery 3

Earlier today I went to the largely forgotten Prince Regent Battery in Digby County. This battery (along with the associated Duke of York Battery in Victoria Beach) was put in place as a defense against American privateers during the War of 1812. The battery strategically overlooks the Digby Gut. At the overgrown and isolated site there are three of the four original 18 pound cannons. This image shows a detail of the marks on one of the cannons. The cannons themselves date to around 1735.
