The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History: The Snark

The Snark was the only intercontinental cruise missile deployed. It carried a nuclear warhead and was controlled by an internal celestial guidance system. The first operational Snark unit was activated by the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command in 1958. It was withdrawn from service in the early 1960's, and replaced by Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM). Range - 5000 miles. Speed - 600 mph.
