Pizza Hut - San Antonio,Texas

According to Roadside Architecture.Com,this neon Pizza Hut sign was built around 1969. It could be the only one of it's type. In the late 1960s,Pizza Hut was producing similar plastic signs with mascot/chef Pizza Hut Pete but with only one pizza in mid-air.

When this particular restaurant relocated to Fredericksburg Rd. the sign moved too. The location loses points during corporate inspections for having a non-conforming sign. The sign is allowed to stay as long as it is impeccably maintained. It's been repainted a couple of times and has more than 100 pieces of red, white and blue neon.Around 2009 the side panels were covered with laser photo sheets which should require less maintenance. Flickr member Ken Erfurth has a nice night shot of this sign he took in 2008. San Antonio,Texas. 7.16.2016
