Nepal - Island Peak - 002 - Sunrise striking Lhotse Shar
After a 3am alpine start up the rock and scree, we reached the glacier and our gear-up spot just as the sun was rising. I managed to snap this pic of the first rays of sun as they caught Lhotse Shar behind Island Peak.
The route wraps around this icefall on to the left up an easy ramp to the 100m high summit headwall and ridge visible in the shot.
For the record, because I didn't realise at the time either, the central, snow-clad peak is actually Island Peak summit, the mirror-image peak in sunshine to the right and the bump to the left are actually Lhotse sticking out behind and (way) above Island Peak.
