No Labels Visionary Logo
When I, a sophomore at Tufts University, first heard of the No Labels campaign, I was pleasantly surprised that a political group was actually working for something that made complete sense to me. This campaign embodies my sentiments about the undesirable and unproductive polarization of politics and how to move our country “not left, not right, but FORWARD.” It truly is a movement for our generation to embrace and support, and I would love to be a part of propelling it onward.
For these reasons, I took it upon myself to create a symbolical representation of this movement, which I call my No Labels Visionary Logo. This is a logo that I designed with the purpose of illustrating, plain and simple, what this movement is, and why it is crucial in the most basic of ways. The logo consists of a pair of eyeglasses—one lens blue (to represent the Democratic Party) and one lens red (to represent the Republican Party). The symbolism lies in the fact that, physiologically, each eye has its own perspective, but only when both come together can the actual depth of field be perceived and the body (our country) move forward with a clear view and without unnecessary stumbles.
Our country is being led using one lens at a time, each with its unique, valid perspective, but also its own blind spot. Lately it feels like when one eye opens and begins getting used to moving within its limited view, the other forces it shut and again tries to move on with its own limited view. Through cooperation, both can work together to achieve a full, clear view and move into a better future for all.
