Shackleton WL795 is the gate guard aircraft for RAF St Mawgan, Cornwall, where the type served in the anti-submarine role from the mid 1950s to September 1971.
This aircraft was withdrawn from service as an AEW.2 from 8 Sqn based at RAF Lossiemouth in 1981 and was delivered to St Mawgan that year as a ground use airframe, during 1988/89 the aircraft was restored by members of the Cornwall Aviation Society and RAF personnel and was converted back to the more representative MR.2 type.
It has been well maintained and looked after since.
