Birmingham Town Hall
I picked up this and the adjacent postcard recently for the princely sum of £1.00 the pair. I am unable to crop the card to enlarge the poster on the Town Hall wall which might give a clue to its date. There is a motor car on the left. Any information as to the date of this photograph would be gratefully received. The bronze statue on the right is that of Sir Robert Peel. Designed by Peter Hollins, cast by Elkington and Masons in Newhall Street and unveiled on 27 August 1855.The statue has been moved four times and in 1926 was involved in an accident with a gas lamp! In 1963 it was moved to its present position outside the Police Training Centre on the Pershore Road.
