Back to Bali. Always a pleasure to be here. Specially because the warmest welcome I always receive from the students. You say a name or a face from those who appear in the photos and I'll tell you a story about each of them. My stay never feels long enough.
This time I though I would give a last change to my old Nikkor AI 35mm. Never liked it. Specially because in all the IHF Centers, the light at the classes is so dim, and since I can't use a flash or kids just go crazy and stop paying attention to the class, I need to use high ISO and large apertures. And in this set up color results were horrible, quality of dark or out of focus areas is worrisome, metering and exposure is chaotic, ...
But finally I have discovered that simply getting closer and using B&W redeems most of these problems. And have learnt to enjoy it that way. Getting close to the students, to the classes, that's the thing I still love about this job.
