Just After the Sun had Set
I took this shot just after sunset at Itsukushima Jinja in Miyajima, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. In 1168, Taira no Kiyomori, the most powerful man in Japan near the end of the Heian Era, built the shrine and its torii gate, which are unique because they were built over water, seemingly floating in the sea during high tide.
My wife and I were lucky to have arrived here about a few hours before sunset, which allowed us to take sunset and twilight photos. I have linked a photo below that I took of the torii gate and lanterns during twilight, which I posted last October while I was in Japan.
