Arches in the sky, part 2: Nighttime
The milky way forms a majestetic arc above a small village in eastern Tyrol on the steep hills of the Austrian Alps, 1450 meters above sea level. The galactic center is low above the horizont at far right. The Andromeda galaxy, our neighbour milky way, is visible as a tiny smudge below the band of the milky, left of center. The bright, yellowish light in the village is from one single street lamp.
Check out this photo for a daytime view of the same village under a rainbow, taken two days later than this shot.
Panoramic view, composed of seven images. Each image was a 30 second exposure taken with a Canon EOS 550D at ISO 3200, 10mm fisheye lens at f/2.8.
