El Pancho, It's the Bomb Y'all.
El Pancho, I don't know, but it might very well be the Best Mexican restaurant in the world. It is at least the best mexican restaurant in Japan. Half price margarita pitchers before dinner time. Giant plates of tacos and burittos and enchiladas and beans and guac and the salsa, my god the salsa.
But I digress. I have gotten a new camera for my birthday. Now my birthday's not until the end of April, but the god's of spring sale events have forseen to put it in my hands a few weeks early. The old guy, Sony Mavica, ole Mavitron 3000, has been with me for near on 7 years, made four trips across the pacific, two across the St. Lawrence, and several back and forth over the Nittany Mountains, has been replaced. It has been good to me, but like all relationships that turn sour, the Mavica had become infuriating and frustrating in it's senior days. Shut on and Shut off time entering the half a minute zone. Occasionally and inexplicably swallowing photos into the Vortex. Worst of all was uploading the photos to my computer. This past Tuesday uploading two discs (200~ photos) took about six hours in the morning and then three at night only to get the camera to sync properly to the computer. Tonight alone while writing this update it took me an hour for the Mavica to "repair data" and then another hour to connect properly to my computer. And it was not just a simple process of just plugging the thing in and waiting. Oh no, it is not impatience that has driven me mad, the camera would connect to the computer and then take 20 minutes to tell me that there were 0 pictures foun on a disc I knew to be full. So it was a matter of turning the Mav on and off and uplugging and replugging the usb cable. Also Mavitron completely refused to ever sync with iPhoto, so the first part of my workflow was always uploading to my computer and then importing to iPhoto to do management. No, while there is a tinge of guilt in replacing the old boy, ultimately it's for the best. It'll keep me from smashing it against a hard concrete road.
In an attempt to stave off a bit of the techno-guilt, and to give the old guy a send off, for the next two weeks I'm gonna upload only pictures from the Mav, but damn I'm gonna be shootin' the hell out of the new guy.
Mmm vegetable enchilada.
