Drake's Bay

This small bay is named after Sir Francis Drake; it is considered to be Drake's most likely landing spot on the west coast of North America during his circumnavigation of the world in 1579. An alternative name for this bay is Puerto De Los Reyes.

The bay is fed by Drake's Estero, an expansive estuary on the Point Reyes peninsula, in the background of this image.

The point on the left is the location of a colony of 500 elephant seals.

Comments are always welcome and appreciated but please no Multiple Invites, Flickriver Badges or Animated Badges with your comment! I simply do not have the time to give them the attention they deserve.
