Oplontis villa

To the right are the deposits from the AD 79 eruption of Vesuvius, showing their thickness at Oplontis. As Oplontis was on a small hill, the deposits are not as thick as at Herculaneum. The flows were also more dilute at Oplontis, the concentrated flows could not make it up the hill.
