Temple of the Sun

Traditionally photographed at sunrise, Temple of the Sun in Capitol Reef NP puts on a fine show near sunset as well. However there is a group of buttes to the west that block the horizon and the warm last rays of the sun. This angle nicely shows off the intricate structure of the butte with the eroded ridges of Entrada sandstone (160 million year old marine tidal flat deposits).
