Crimson Turbulence

“I bind the Sun's throne with a burning zone..” Percy Bysshe Shelley

“And oft he traced the uplands, to survey, When o’er the sky advanced the kindling dusk, The crimson cloud, blue main, and mountain grey…” James Beattie

Post sunset color glow in a cloud over the Maze and Needles Districts of Canyonlands National Park. I was mesmerized by this display which lasted for at least half an hour- even 10 minutes after I took this shot there was still a red tinge in the sky, as if the clouds had absorbed the light and were emitting it back after the sunlight had gone. This would have to rank among the most beautiful and interesting sunsets I’ve had the pleasure to watch. (#1)
