A partially-graffitied cab-car is seen in outside storage at the northern end of Taumarunui yard.
This is one of several ex-British Rail Mk2 coaches that was rebuilt for Auckland commuter services. The SA/SD stock was used between 2004 and 2015, and was hauled by DC or DFT locomotives.
All locomotive-hauled stock and DMU's in Auckland were replaced by the AM class electric multiple units between 2013 and 2015.
Most of the SA/SD stock (as well as the SX set) is currently in outside storage at Taumarunui. Some of this stock is now being rebuilt for the upcoming commuter service from Hamilton to Papakura.
