Captain Henry C. Matrau of Company G of the 6th Wisconsin Infantry. The 6th Wisconsin Infantry was organized at Camp Randall, Madison, Wisconsin and mustered in on July 16, 1861 and became part of the famous Iron Brigade of the Army of the Potomac. They mustered out on July 2, 1865. The 6th Wisconsin was at Second Manassas, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, The Wilderness, Spottsylvania, North Anna, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Five Forks, Appomattox, and many other fights. They were present at the surrender of Lee and his army and took part in the Grand Review on May 23rd, 1865. The regiment lost 16 Officers and 228 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 1 Officer and 112 Enlisted men by disease for a total of 357.
