the future of the daleks

    Newer Older

I have had this idea for a weird original-title sequence/Steranko styled background and some of the new drones knocking around for ages. Finally got some spare time to make the BG in photoshop and shoot it today.

I decided on a quick B&W shot of the original dalek would suit too. Sadly I messed up the focus on the drone shots (curse their detailed eye-stalks!) so will have to re-shoot another day. This one came out well though, so not all was lost.

Doctor Sinister, Evil Cheese Scientist, and 15 other people added this photo to their favorites.

Great shot, the background reminds me of those "magic eye" books, I'm SURE the Dalek popped out of the screen ;) Indeed poster worthy!!!

Fantastic shot, great period feel. I love the oldest Daleks (including the saucer pilot!) and newest ones, they have a fun factor that got lost a little bit when they moved to their military grey paint job in the 70s...

Thank you, It came out as a period piece much better than the weird modern one I had planned. I shall post the drone one soon, but I think that its not quite as good as this one.

As for old school Dalek antics, have a look at this weird story, (if you have not done so already) it's interesting to see how the Daleks were viewed back in the day (by the spin off media at least!)

I wonder how much of that was 'come up with a story first and find the photos to fit' or 'find what photos we can and work a story around that'... I suspect the latter!

It's interesting to see what third party writers make of the source material early on in the development of a franchise when not much of a mythos has been developed- I bet the writer who chose to develop Lukes relationship with Leia regretted it!

Really nice. BG reminiscent of the original Dr Who opening sequence. Works with the B&W dalek. Are you planning a poster of this? I like it.

    17. Johnson Cameraface 39 months ago | reply

Thanks, it would work nicely as a poster, but apart from those affiliate sites that let you sell your pictures in different formats, I don't know how you would go about doing that.

As it is creative commons though, feel free to download the large size and print it out :)

      Thanks for the kind words!

Very suave background, really well-made and quite appropriate for this version of Dalek!
