The allure of a high tech career is stronger than ever if booming enrollment in computer science programs is any indication, but now more students who are learning programming come from non-computer-related fields.
"Growth is coming not just from students pursuing computer science as their major, but from students across disciplines," said Eric Fraser, assistant dean and director of IT, UC Berkeley, College of Engineering. "It's becoming clear that even if you're not a computer science major, you want to take a computing course. We're seeing people in business, social science and humanities adding the course."
