Stranger 046/100 SAMUEL

With my limited english i keep it short and simple.

That was for sure the most intensive experience so far. First of all, it was a special day, because i was accompanied by Reto, a very experienced photographer who took some shots of me, during i was taking a picture of a stranger in my lunch break. There will be a short interview with me, about the 100 stranger project and my experienece with it, in a Zürich news paper. So it was an other challenge to take the picture with a pro watching me. Reto is a very nice guy, which help me a lot, to still feel comfortable enough to stay focused on my own work.

Then i spotted Samuel, not the first time. But this time i had the chance to approach him. He was super friendly and had no problem at all, with being photographed. After i had taken a few shots, Samuel and i started to talk a bit. It was very windy and the only things he could tell me was, that he is in Zürich to get some special books, and that he is collecting glove puppets. Because in this moment we heard a strange kracking noise. In the same second i saw Reto going down in a kneeling position. After another second i realized that he has been hit from big flowerpot that burst on his head. We immediately took care of him. He was bleeding and we needed a ambulance to bring him to the hospital for some head and spine checks. In between Samuel and i said goodbye. While they took care of him, Reto asked me if i could do some thing for him. Sure i said. So he asked me to take pictures of it all. I took some, and in this moment the police came, and off course they wanted me to stop taking pictures. After a explanation i could go on. Fortunately und to my relief Reto could leave the hospital a few hours later, with not much more then some stitches and a headache.

What a day!

Thanks Samuel for being a part of the project!

Glad that you are ok Reto!
