This is a little lochan nestling between the hills of West and East Lomond called Ballo.
Before I moved to Edinburgh I lived just over the hill in a little hamlet called Glenlomond for 10 years. I've walked and mountain biked past this loch hundreds of times and always meant to come back to get a few shots. This morning I finally got round to it.
Can't describe how cold and windy this was. Taken in 70mph winds with me using as much of my own weight as possible to keep it steady while the clouds were racing past and the spray from the loch spattering the lens. The sunrise was a good 20-30 minutes but I only managed to get a few shots with a clear lens.
Shortly after this a heavy snow storm rolled in so I packed up and hiked back over the hill.
Well worth the trip and I'll no doubt be back in milder weather.
