We’d like to leave you with a quote from one of our recent African Study Tour participants, Wesley Connor from Aveda Canada, who wrote this about his visit to Kentero Village.
"I am still haunted by my visit to Kentero Village and find myself thinking of them throughout the day and dreaming of them at night. I can’t get this one woman out of my head, who after telling us how desperate they are for water and how many deaths and illnesses they’ve endured, turned to me, looked me straight in the eye and said her closing sentence in her native tongue. I had no idea what she had actually said but her eyes pierced my soul and I felt everything she had been so desperately trying to tell us."
When I later asked the translator what she said to me with such fierce conviction, the translator simply said “please don’t forget us”.
