Dawadawa flowers hang like lanterns
The flowers of the Dawadawa tree (Parkia biglobosa) almost glow like lanterns. The tree and its seeds, leaves and gum have many uses and are an important part of the diets and livelihoods of people living in the dryland areas in which it grows.
It's seeds for example are used to make protein rich soumbala balls, its gum is used to harden earthen floors and its leaves are used as an animal fodder.
The Dawadawa is just one of the trees TREE AID and its beneficiaries work with. Find out more at www.treeaid.org.uk
