Joy Kogawa House, April 25th 2008
Senator Nancy Ruth was introduced as the formerly anonymous donor who helped save Joy Kogawa's childhood home from demolition, so it could be purchased by The Land Conservancy of BC.

An afternoon VIP reception was held at the house, following a press conference and listening to a CBC Radio One arts report by Paul Grant on "On The Coast".

And evening concert of music and poetry featured poets George McWhirter, Heidi Greco, Marion Quednau, composer Leslie Uyeda, soprano Heather Pawsey, flautist Kathryn Cernauskas and pianist Rachel Iwassa.

Joy Kogawa was presented with the 14th George Woodcock Literary Achievement by BC Bookworld publisher Alan Twigg, Vancouver Public Library community programs director Janice Douglas and BC historian Jean Barman.
