Meadow Spittlebug/ Froghopper

Philaenus spumarius. Introduced to North America. One theory suggests that the eggs of one subspecies of the Meadow Spittlebug were present in the straw brought by the Vikings to L'Anse aux Meadows (Northern tip of Newfoundland) in 998 AD.
