Cyrtandra 2’s set -
May 22, 2010
Hawai`i, O`ahu, Ko`olau Mountains, northern part, windward (eastern) side, Hau`ula area. Plant 2 (one of two plants of this taxon seen). This individual was a relatively young, robust plant with a single major stem.
Heading upstream in this gulch, C. laxiflora was the first Cyrtandra taxon encountered. In this part of the Ko`olau Mountains it is always the only Cyrtandra found in the lower, drier parts of the gulches. Then after a while the first C. calpidicarpa plants were seen. Then plants of C. propinqua and Cyrtandra 2 showed up. Upstream of the plants of Cyrtandra 2 were seen the first plants of C. degenerans.
