The nature of Iceland

Hverarönd..east of lake Mývatn. This is Hverarönd in Northeast Iceland, a large geothermal area. Boiling pools of blue-green mud, steam vents, and a horrible stench leave a lasting impression in the minds of any who venture there. It is truly otherworldly: grab Virgil’s hand and descend into hell. Ironically, a nearby lake bears the name “Hell” in English.
