New England is very colorless this time of year. Skies are grey, leaves are gone, and the ground is covered with snow. Everyone develops a hunger for color. While driving down a street the other day, I saw this bush. I didn't have my camera with me at the time, but it stuck in my head. A few days later, when I did have my camera, I drove down the same street. I had forgotten about this bush at a conscious level, but as soon as I saw it, I jammed on the brakes, pulled over, and clambered across the snow to take picture after picture after picture of these scarlet berries. I have no idea what they are, but they filled me with pleasure.
