A plaque at the edge of the Wheatfield marks the location of the 148th Pennsylvania Infantry on day two of the Battle of Gettysburg. Company C of the 148th, consisting of soldiers from the Farmers High School and Centre County, held the Union's vulnerable left flank through an afternoon of horrific fighting. The 148th Pennsylvania monument can be seen in the distance.
