    Gordon P. Garmire, the Evan Pugh Professor of Astronomy.
    He is the co-discoverer of high energy gamma rays and is responsible for developing many of the data analysis algorithms used today in high energy astrophysics, the construction of the first diamond-turned X-ray telescope, and the discovery of the first non-pulsating neutron star in a supernova remnant.
