RA212 Midland Yard 16 03 2013

Engineless and stored RA212 awaiting non existent TLC at Midland Yard on 16 March 2013.

 

English Electric built in 1969 (1,795hp, Co-Co, 95tons, 96kmh), the ex RA 1917 became KA 212 when it was re-gauged to standard gauge.

 

After sale to private operators, it again became narrow gauge in January 2009 and was numbered RA 212.

 

Owned by Greentrains/ Engenco and previously hired to South Spur Rail Services after a buy/ leaseback arrangement.

 

Like many of their narrow gauge locos, it was stored and eventually scrapped. Scrapped onsite at Midland Yard in May 2016.
