Helsinki | by Peter Sillitoe

At 60*10' North, Helsinki is the second most northerly capital city on the planet, with only Reykjavik being closer to the pole. I am here during the long days of summer, and the locals do not seem to be taking their daylight for granted. But it's grey today and after the recent sunny skies of the UK and the open fields of home in Hampshire, I'm finding the architecture here to be big, bold, authoritarian and imposing.
