Goa's Clay Cookware
Several items of clay containers for cooking or storing water, rice and foodstuff prepared by the last of the Goan potters in Soccorro. Cooking on slow woodwife in clay kitchenware was what brought taste to Goan cuisine once. Buddkulo, gurguret, mann, kodem, tovli, malti, kollso, lavnni, bhann, donn, miler, dhumpel, tizal, tovo, vaz, moddki... all these items are now things of the past and the clay artisans too are seen very rarely... or only at the Mapusa Bazaar or the fairs at the village feasts in Goa. On August 15, 2012, the villagers of Socorro brought the scene alive at their colourful, very ethnic Patoianchem Fest.
