The Tree

Active Assignment for the week of 27th August to 3rd September- Empty Urban

This is the most ridiculous attempt at "blending in with nature" that I have ever seen. It is a cell phone tower at a gas station/rest stop along the Hutchinson River Parkway (in White Plains, NY). It was "disguised" as a tree to "blend in" with the landscape along the parkway. It sticks out like a sore thumb, being taller than anything in the immediate area, and the metallic brown "trunk" (complete with antenna dish and access ladders) is truly a dead giveaway. (Pun intended!!)

Lol. They are trying to put these up in VT too. We have a big fight going.
Most people don't like them, but there were 2 accidents last winter over in NYS in which people died only because there was no cell phone service in the area, so that fueled the fight even more.

I guess I would say put them up. Most people need them and technology will make them obsolete in the blink of an eye anyway. Someday all people will have to do is stand there and imagine a cell phone tower and PRESTO....they will have service.

Me?....I like my old-fashioned land line that works even though a storm has knocked the power out.....again!

Thanks for adding this to the 'fake plastic trees' pool. This is a particularly good example!

At least somebody made an effort. Looks better than what it's hiding imo.
