A Lovely Day
I had painted for most of the day. Trying to get as much work done as possible. Then I made a decision to pick up my son early from daycare. With the sun on our faces, the wind in our hair we rolled down the street on a skateboard, hand in hand together. I try to make sure to always "squeeze" in time for us to do things together, but for him it always seems over too quickly. But not today. Today we would ride that skateboard, past the big brick house, past all of the big houses. Today when he asked, "are we going home now?" I responded, "No". There would be no rush back to my work. Today we kept rolling, and when we finished rolling along we pretended found tree branches were light sabers as we battled on the way back.
The sun no longer warming my face, but the memories warm my heart. Today was a lovely day.
