Edgar Allan Poe

Edgar Allan Poe (1809 - 1849) was an orphan of Boston and was moved to Richmond with a foster family. He was credited with helping form the science fiction genre, as well as detective fiction, but also had his hand in writing about natural sciences such as cosmology.

The reasoning behind his death is not understood, but it is thought to be attributed at least secondarily to his issues with alcoholism.
