Underground
Much of China´s daily life takes place underground. You´ll commonly find yourself in competely windowless restaurants deep in the bowels of some huge concrete shopping complex nightmare.
The locals don´t seem to mind, as they are somewhat afraid of the sun. In the middle class and up, everybody is trying to stay (or become) as light-skinned as possible, so as to not be confused with the common folk or migrant workers, whose skin tone is usually darker from hard labor under the sun.
