Golden Bouquet

Combine a bunch of these and some rich afternoon light,

And voilá! Bouquet. In early May sprouting all over the canyon,

Adding their sunny cheer like a reflection back to the sky.

This plant belongs to what we call the aster family. Each petal is actually a separate flower. Altogether they radiate around a central cone to make the sun shape that we usually think of as one flower. Relatives include daisy, sunflower, and other well-known plants.
