North Walsham, St Nicholas, Norfolk, *

The church is large and bare, with four tiny, inaccessible windows high on the west wall, which gave me the feeling of a kind of holy imprisonment. The windows were added after the old tower came crashing down in 1724, “its fall shaking the town so badly that many thought there had been an earthquake.”
