#17 - U.S. Supports Ray Proposals

Countdown to CoP16: The United States is supporting proposals to increase protection of freshwater sawfish and manta rays. Sawfish, a type of ray, have long snouts with little “teeth” that look like a saw, which they use to dig up their food on the ocean floor or kill their prey. Sawfish are threatened by target and bycatch fisheries, as well as trade of their saws and fins. We hope other nations will join us in this global effort.
