Morning at St. Philips

St. Philips Church

Charleston, South Carolina

This church replaced the original St. Philips, which had burned to the ground in 1835. During the American Civil War the church congregation donated its eleven bells to the Confederate cause and the steeple was used as a aiming point for Union guns firing on the city in 1863.
