Singapore shophouses built from the 1840's into the 1900's, are colorful and interesting subjects for tourists and photographers alike. They serve as historic reminders of Singapore's past. These two above are located side by side on Emerald Hill, a quaint and quiet side street just off of Orchard Road and a must-see for anyone visiting Singapore.
I also found these shophouses very difficult to photograph in full, with their step-up walkways and slanted facades. After many attempts to use a wide angle lens to capture them, I switched to a telephoto lens in order to focus on details, color, and framing rather than the whole structure, as in the example above.
