Dead Abercrombie - Bel Air Mall

Abercrombie and Fitch recently shuttered their only Alabama store locations outside Birmingham this past Saturday.

I expected this and wondered why it wasn't closed sooner.

Whoa, I didn't know this, but then I haven't been in Bel-Air in going on seven years. I guess the brand just isn't as popular as it use to be.

In the late 90's and early 00's Abercrombie was on top of the world they did not have to do "Sales" to attract shoppers since they could sell almost anything at full price, Times have changed and the US economy sank. While Abercrombie has been opening up stores in other markets like Canada, Europe and Asia to attract new customers and closing many stores in the US due to overserved markets there.

Darrell Their European expansion now seems like a misguided idea, with the ongoing economic turmoil there. Elsewhere, I see that their Japan launch has been somewhat of a culture clash. I guess, domestically, they will use the lower priced Hollister Co. format as their main mode of expansion.
