• The image appears to be tilted, but I don't think it is. It just seems this way because of the angle at which I was looking at this scene.
  • for the first time since I started photography have I come across these amazing Sun rays emanating from between the clouds. I had only seen these in others photostream in the past..

a postcard from God's own country

Its fantastic to be back here on Flickr. I can't believe it has been (almost) a month since I last posted here and I have thoroughly missed being here and seeing all your wonderful photos.

Let me not go into all the reasons for being away all this while but the last few days I was away on a short (weekend) trip to the most beautiful state called Kerala, which is very rightly called God's own country. We came back just yesterday and here is my first from our trip.

We went to this small town in Kerala called Alleppey, which does not have much to see or do, but it is the boarding point for people wanting to experience the backwaters (countryside by the lake) of Kerala. We spent a couple of days on the houseboat, which cruises along the lake and you can experience the wonderful scenery, while also getting to see the daily lives of people living by the lake.

We were on the boat when my wife pointed out at the sky with the setting sun and the magical light rays. I took a few shots but waited for the right time to have something interesting in the foreground. I couldn't have asked for anything better than this boatman who went past the ubiquitous coconut trees.

I hope you've all been good. I shall visit your streams today. Thanks for dropping by!

i like this one a lot! the angle makes the photo look like it was taken when the boat was swaying from side to side... very realistic~
