This week I drove by and the front door was open. I parked and spoke with a slightly paunchy older gentleman, who was driving a luxury car and wearing a suit. He seemed to me to be in charge of this place. Perhaps even the new owner.
I rolled down my window and asked if the place was going to be renovated, and he said " Nope, It's going to be demolished. The engineer is inside". He seemed a bit annoyed that I even gave a shit and was wasting his time. Git
So that's it. This beautiful building is going to be destroyed.
I've wanted to visit it for a long time. I was disuaded by the legendary occupant who would like to bludgeon to death any and all who entered his house.
But I got in. As we entered, we heard a portable radio playing off in the distant dark, one level below us. I also smelled cigarette smoke. But enter we did nonetheless !!
It was pretty trashed, but there are glimmers of beauty, far far greater than I'd imagined.
I'm glad I made it before it meets the wrecking ball.
I'm thrilled I didn't get to Meet Shiva and his wrecking ball
