Oliver + S: Birthday Party Dress, front

Newer Older

I just recently completed my very first Oliver + S pattern. I don't have any little ones to sew for so I made the Birthday Party Dress for my friend's baby girl. I decided to attempt an Oliver + S pattern because I get so overwhelmed when sewing for myself. I thought a small scale pattern might help me focus on the construction without worrying about fitting my body. I am so happy that I did this because the Birthday Party dress came out so well. I even tried French seams for the first time! You can check it out here, on my blog, if you'd like: helenethelstudio.blogspot.com/2011/01/oliver-s-birthday-p....

justmejay- thanks for stoping by my blog! i used French seams anywhere where you would be instructed to finish the seams- so all of the seams connecting the panels together (front, side, back, etc.) and the lower edge of the top facing. it really was rather simple- (and this is coming from someone who has zero experience with French seams) - just a little more time consuming, but definitely worth the time. looking forward to seeing yours when it is complete!

Love the large scale of the print. You used it beautifully.
