Look to the light
New years day, what to do? Head up to the snow! What could go wrong? How about the fact that every other person in Portland had the same idea. We spent about 6 hours in the car, most sitting still in traffic, to play in the snow for about 20 minutes. I had dreams of shooting three waterfalls that day, but the ideas were scraped when we saw the throngs of cars. So many cars. Looks like the waterfalls will have to be another day. In the meantime, I tried to get something for the effort. Its horrible to sit in the car that long and not come home with something. So I looked for a light beam to star the setting sun through the trees covered sun. Bucolic if I get it right. I found a great beam. The shot was OK, but it needed something more. Ahhhh, people. So I had the wife and dog pose in the light. Getting the dog to look out there long enough to get off some bracketed images was not easy. I have about 40 of this image before I got one with the dog looking longingly into the light. This was shot with the new fisheye. I like it so far. Going to DC soon, that will be the real test.
Let me know what you think of the image! Happy new year!
