Man - Back Into the Future

    Newer Older

    Taplow railway station, near Maidenhead.

1973 double album from the Welsh Wizards: Man. My copy features signatures by Martin Ace (pp Terry Williams) and his wife George, and a hand stamp from the Torrington venue in Finchley, London, my local pub where the members of the Flying Aces kindly signed. On the back are the signatures of Phil Ryan and Clive John who says he thinks ferrets are wonderful.

where was the pic taken? It looks familiar?

It looks familiar because we have all waited too long on British Railways platforms picturing our fellow 'waiters' as characters from fiction.

Doesn't say in the sleeve notes - no doubt the answer is in one of Deke Leonard's books. I did find a poster which shows more of the station: eil.com/shop/moreinfo.asp?catalogid=410305

Aha - forgot I have the CD as well:

It's Taplow railway station, near Maidenhead, on the Wales to Paddington main line. Expresses passed every 15 minutes, Micky Jones says the passengers must have thought they were in a time warp. Apparently the trains delayed the photoshoot so much that the derelict version of the station pictured inside the gatefold sleeve is a model.
